CeBGID members participated in the Event 201 | A global pandemic exercise hosted by John Hopkins Center for Health Security, World Economic Forum and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

The Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security in partnership with the World Economic Forum and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation hosted Event 201, a high-level pandemic exercise on October 18, 2019, in New York, NY, USA. The purpose of the exercise was to illustrate the pandemic preparedness efforts, response decisions, and cooperation required from global businesses, governments, and public health leaders that the world will need to diminish the large-scale economic and societal consequences of a severe pandemic. CeBGID will continue encouraging world leaders to strengthen response capacities in Mexico and Latin America to face of devastating biological incidents. As we noted in this event, a global pandemic would be catastrophic if response capacities are not strengthened, especially in vulnerable regions where specialized facilities, qualified health professionals and medical attention are limited. All nations should work together in order to provide an effective multinational response against emergent pandemics. Unilateral positions are not recommended.
